I am turning 60 this year and decided to do something noteworthy to celebrate my health, therefore I’m swimming the 8 Miler at Midmar. The beauty of this endeavour is that I can participate in the world’s largest open water swimming event and at the same time generate funds for nature conservation. My choice of charity is Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, because they play a crucial role in the conservation of both the black and white rhino.
Some interesting facts about rhinos: approximately 80% of the world’s rhino population lives in South Africa. Unfortunately more than 5 100 rhinos have been lost to poaching in the past 5 years, with at least half of this occurring in the Kruger National Park. That is why it is so important to support Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in the preserving of these magnificent animals.
