Lauren Culverwell is raising funds for CANSA

Last year I attempted the 8 mile to raise funds for CANSA! It was such a success, thanks to all the lovely people in my community! Everyone came together and for that I was on of 2 people out of 30 CANSA swimmers to receive a silver medal for amount raised! I’d love to achieve that again this year! Times have been tough for all but one positive that has come from it all is to see the kind and giving nature of people even when they couldn’t afford it. During this time we have come together to help one another- we have supported local and acquired skills we never knew we had to make ends meet. This is another opportunity to give and to an amazing Cause! “ CANSA is committed to connecting people facing cancer with information, day-to-day help as well as emotional support they need in the communities where they live. Our aim is to ensure that cancer Survivors and their loved ones don’t have to face cancer alone; we’re here to support them through every step of their cancer journey.” CANSA Active promotes regular exercise and physical activity which play a major role in leading a healthy balanced lifestyle – aimed at reducing your cancer risk. The lack of regular exercise and physical activity; overweight and obesity; combined with unhealthy dietary and social habits i.e. tanning, smoking and drinking, are all risk factors associated with heightened cancer risk. “CANSA Active advocates regular exercise and physical activity while being #SunSmart, for all South Africans, from pre-school toddlers to great grandparents; the fitness fanatic; serious athletes; group sport; family sport; social joggers; cyclist; runners; walkers and strollers. The motivation being that every bit of exercise contributes to health.” For the 8 Mile R5000 needs to be raised by each swimmer, I would love to see if we can push it a bit further💪🏼
