I have been swimming in galas and races since I was 5 years old and for as long as I can remember my dad has left every year at the same time to go down to KZN and swim 8 Miles in the Midmar Mile. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to follow in his footsteps and do the exact same thing.
I swam my first Midmar in 2019 and I remember sitting in the 8 Mile tent with my dad feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement and thinking that one day I was going to be in the 8 Mile tent as one of the 8 Mile participants. In 2020 I swam my second Midmar, I swam one on the Saturday and one on the Sunday I was one step closer to one of my biggest life goals.
2021 Midmar did not go as planned but I still pushed and was determined to do my 3rd Midmar no matter the circumstances, which ended up being virtual. I have now reached the required age to be able to not only swim my first 8 Mile with my best friend but also have the opportunity to raise money for a really worthy cause. This is an opportunity to help someone and make their life a little better as well as push my own limits and get the best results I possibly can, I cannot wait for the start of this new adventure.
