The 2024 edition of the aQuelle Midmar Mile Charity 16 Challenge takes place on 8-9 February.  I will be 1 of approximately 30 swimmers who will be taking on the challenge of swimming 16 miles!  A daunting task indeed, but all in the name of raising money for charities.

 

I am a highly motivated goal driven person who is always seeking for an extreme event to push myself to the limits and achieve a good result.  In the last 4 years I have completed half marathons, a marathon, Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, 4 x 70.3 IM distances, Midmar Miles, Capital k 3km swimming races, Tinman Triathlons and Duathlons, Tour Durban 110km, Amashova 65km and the Harbour2Harbour swimming event.  

 

I will be building up to swim approximately 6-7 times / 30km a week and I have signed up with Olympian swimmer and coach, Michelle Weber to ensure that I am fully prepared for the challenge.

 

I have chosen to support Happy Bundles, a non profit organisation that can bring a life changing moment of joy to children with cancer.  There is no greater joy than seeing a child, their family and friends light up with joy and excitement when they receive gifts.  For me it is unimaginable to think of children going through the initial diagnoses, surgeries, radiation and chemo therapies and it is incomprehensible for kids.

 

Please help me to reach my goal of R 20 000 to give these children a reason to smile and feel special as all children deserve to feel.
