Charity 8 Challenge 2024

Jason Raath is raising funds for CHOC

So in 2024 I will be attempting my 9th 8 Mile at Midmar, my third with Erin. I’m so excited for this one as my training has already gotten off to a roaring start, which is far more than I could have said for any number of years preceding this one!

I’m sure all of my kind donors over the years have grown tired of me coming cap in hand asking for money for something that doesn’t seem that impressive. After all, it’s been 8 years, seven of them consecutive.

So, what am I going to do to make 2024 a special one for The Cows? Well, on October 15th 2023, I’ll be running The Cape Town Marathon (42.2km) for CHOC as a sort of preamble to my Midmar fundraising. That’s obviously quite a while before Midmar weekend in February though. As you may or may not be aware, the 8 Mile event is now held on the Thursday and Friday before the general entries to Midmar are held, with Saturday and Sunday hosting the usual 4 starting batches each.

I am going to enter into not only the 8 Mile, but also the Saturday and Sunday batches, bringing my total to 16 miles over the 4 days of Midmar weekend! All swims will be in CHOC kit, as will the run. There are other events which will spring up occasionally so feel free to follow my Facebook page "Stampede to Midmar 2024" to see my progress!
