Klaus Leschner is raising funds for CHOC

I work as a Paediatrician at Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg. I see how cancer and serious blood disorders affect the lives of children and their families.  Their need for help is greater now than ever before, with the high levels of poverty and hardship.

Treatment courses are often long and uncomfortable. There may be difficulties for families to be close to a treatment centre, and CHOC helps to provide accommodation and social support.
CHOC also steps in where there are shortfalls in providing the correct treatment and equipment.  CHOC creates awareness of the early warning signs of childhood cancer. The sooner cancer and blood disorders are detected, the better are the chances of long term survival as well as cure.

I have a great love for the Drakensberg. In 2025 I plan to hike high up to a cave on the Drakensberg escarpment over a 3 day period. This will be my second year of high altitude hiking for CHOC after doing 12 years of swimming at Midmar. CHOC-CAVE 2024 was a great success. My trek to reach the cave is to honor the journey that children and families with cancer have to follow, with all its challenges and incredible accomplishments.
It is my plan to raise a total of R50000 for CHOC-CAVE 2025.

Thank you so much for supporting CHOC.
