Sean and Alison Uys is raising funds for Singakwenza

In 2017, Alison and Sean will be aiming to raise R20 000 for local South African charity Singakwenza Education and Health.  Says Alison: ‘This is a charity that is very close to our hearts as we have young children of our own and have been fortunate enough to have been able to provided them with great early education – this is our way of paying that forward’ As a teacher and mom, Alison fully understands the value of early education: ‘we’ve seen with our own kids how important those first early years are. Kids absorb info so fast when they are little, we as a society need to promote early learning as an absolute priority” Singakwenza, meaning "we can do it!" in iSizulu, aims to build sustainable early childhood education programmes in economically disadvantaged communities. Based in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, this charity organisation uses resources made solely from recycling to help caregivers provide fun, educational activities that enable young children to learn through play.
