Karen Jankelow & Sue Rider is raising funds for CANSA

Our Swim for CANSA
**Making Waves for a Meaningful Cause**

We are Karen and Sue, two passionate swimmers who have been swim partners for over 4 years. Over time, swimming has become so much more than just a hobby – it’s been a lifeline, a source of purpose, and a way to relieve stress. Now, we’re channeling our love for the water into something bigger: raising funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Why We Swim for CANSA

Cancer affects so many lives, and CANSA plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families through this challenging journey. Their research, education programs, and holistic care services ensure that no one faces cancer alone.

For us, swimming is about pushing our limits, finding strength in adversity, and giving back to the community. “We may not be able to take away the pain of what people are going through,” we believe, “but we can challenge ourselves, raise awareness, and make a difference through donations, no matter how big or small.”

Our Swimming Journey

Swimming has been a transformative experience for both of us. It has carried us through some of the darkest times in our lives, giving us purpose and strength. It’s not just a great cardio workout – it’s our therapy, our passion, and now, our way of giving back.

Here are some of the milestones we’re proud of:
- Qualified SSA Learn-to-Swim Coach (Sue)
- Robben Island crossings (2022, 2023)
- Langebaan 12 km swim (2002)
- Langebaan 6 km swim (2003)
- Cape Point swim (2003)
- Karen’s 1st Midmar Mile swim was in 2015 whilst Sue’s 1st Midmar Mile swim was in 2024
- Proud NSRI Volunteer (2024)

How You Can Support:

We’re inviting you to join us in making a splash for CANSA! Every contribution, no matter the size, helps CANSA continue its mission to provide research, education, and support for those affected by cancer.

Your donations will help fund:
- Cancer research
- Educational campaigns
- Patient care and support at CANSA Care Centres and Homes

By supporting our swim, you’re not just cheering us on – you’re helping to fight cancer and bring hope to countless individuals.

Together, we can turn every stroke into a step toward hope and healing.
