There are many reasons to swim the Midmar Mile, but there are even more reasons to do it for cancer. Cancer does not choose its victims, and no one is ever prepared for the heartbreak it brings. I’ve experienced the loss of many friends and family members to this devastating disease, and I feel a deep sense of responsibility to make a difference in the lives of those who are still fighting.
This year, I’m swimming the Midmar Mile for a cause that is close to my heart – to raise support for children battling cancer. I’ve chosen to support CHOC, a charity that has been providing life-changing care and support to children with cancer and their families since 1977. They offer vital services such as education, accommodation, and emotional support, all of which are essential for families facing the unimaginable.
I’ve committed to swimming the 8-mile challenge (12.8 km) this year. It will take months of intense training, dedication, and sacrifice. But the effort I put into this swim is nothing compared to the daily struggles faced by children with cancer. Their courage and strength inspire me to push myself beyond my limits.
My goal is to raise R10,000 to support CHOC in their mission to provide ongoing care to these brave children. Every donation will make a tangible impact, and I’m asking for your help to make a real difference. By donating, you’re supporting not only the children but also the families who face the emotional and financial burdens of cancer.
Please join me in this important journey, and let’s make a powerful impact together. Your generosity can help change the lives of children with cancer – your support truly matters. Thank you for standing with me and for these incredible children.
