This is my 1st ever Midmar Mile & 8 Mile. Having originally only entering for the 1 Mile as I only started swimming March 2024, my friends convinced me to also enter for the 8 Mile and contribute to a good cause.

I decided on CANSA as we have friends that have gone and some still going through cancer treatment. I am dedicating these 8 miles to them in honour of the struggle that they go through on a daily basis. Their fighting spirit and positivity despite their daily struggles inspires me.

My 8 Miles for my 2025 Midmar will be in honour of our good family friend Johan du Toit who continues to fight this dreadful disease. Despite his battle with this disease, he continues to inspire and still tickle a laugh. I am hoping that my small contribution will be able to assist people suffering from cancer through assistance in treatment and also research that could hopefully help prevent or ease treatment in future.

I am hoping that this will be the 1st of many miles to contribute towards the CANSA cause.
