It is time for me to start getting ready for the 2019 Midmar mile charity swim.
in 2018 I was able to complete the 16-mile swim, with the addition of two extra miles that helped me achieve something special.
I became the first person to get to swim 18 miles at the event and in the process reach crossing number 68. I currently average 12 Midmar mile crossings for every time I have been there. And like the 2018 Midmar mile I aim to do something different again, Maybe 3 additional miles so I’ll be swimming 19 miles in total in aid of charity!
I am really positive that with everyone's help, I can achieve this target. Thanks to your generosity, I was able to raise just over R21 000 for the 2018 swim.
I am supporting the same charity as the last swim. I will be helping the Duzi Umngeni Conservation Trust. (Please visit http://www.duct.org.za/ for information on the trust.)
60% of the funds that I raise go to this charity, with 40% of the funds going to smaller charities such as:
• The SPCA
• Children’s homes
• The National Guide Dogs Association
• Animal shelters
• The Cancer Association
• KZN Society for the Blind
