We live in a world where sadly, we have all been affected by cancer in one way or another. Thankfully, organisations such as CHOC exist to make the journey of those who are affected by childhood cancer less burdensome.
I will be swimming all eight events at the 2020 Midmar Mile in aid of CHOC. This is a massive personal honour, as I know just how passionate this organisation is about providing support to those affected by cancer.
On a personal note, my mom's recent cancer diagnosis and subsequent remission pointedly drove home the severity of this devastating disease. She has shown me just how powerful the human spirit can be in overcoming adversary. I will forever continue to swim for my mom, not only because of how grateful I am to still have her in my life, but also to thank her for introducing me to swimming when I was still a baby.
