My journey with the Cows and CHOC started shortly after my wife lost her battle to cancer. After bravely fighting for 17 months she finally lost her fight on the 27 July 2018, leaving me with two kids who needed the best dad that hey could have. I think if it was not for my two babies i would have gone down a very different path after her passing, but thankfully i managed to some how pull my self together and be the father that they both needed me to be.
I then became a Cow and started to help raise funds for CHOC through various disciplines of sport, which for anyone that knows me, was completely out of character. I have pushed myself to limits i never thought i would ever be able to achieve but knowing the difference i am making in these kids lives is what keeps me going each and every day. The battle i fight when running, swimming or cycling is absolutely nothing compared to what these little brave souls have to go through.
This brings me to my latest challenge, the 8 Mile. Last year i completed my first ever Midmar mile, not only that, i completed 4 over that weekend. So this year i am challenging myself to swim all 8 races in and effort to raise as much as possible for CHOC and create as much awareness as i can for the work that they do alongside the Cows, who are my second family.
