charity profile

The MRP Foundation is a Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organisation that was established in 2005, to carry out the Social Investment initiatives for Mr Price Group. We strive to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of young South Africans. Our main focus is on upliftment, especially of those less privileged, through education and skills development. Our mission is to educate and empower our future generation to become inspired, healthy, engaged and responsible citizens, capable of bringing about necessary social change and building a positive society. To truly make a difference in young lives, we believe that teamwork is essential. By establishing partnerships with our stakeholders and sharing knowledge and ideas, we are able to achieve far greater impact than we ever could alone. Through our current partnership projects we are now adding worth to the lives of young people in nine provinces.

young heroes

Through the project future sporting talent is nurtured and identified. This is of vital importance because: - physical exercise is an essential part of childhood development, helping to build confidence and co-ordination, develop mental, physical and social wellbeing and prevent disease. - many children at schools in low-income communities don't get to experience these benefits due to lack of sporting equipment, trained coaches and sporting facilities. - research shows that children in south africa are spending more time glued to technology and less involved in physical play. - obesity and heart disease are on the increase in children.

jumpstart

JumpStart is a direct response to the national challenge of youth unemployment. The JumpStart programme has a goal to positively impact the unemployment problem facing South Africa, by assisting unemployed youth between the ages of 18-30 by preparing them for the world of work. The lack of experiential training as well as personal conduct within the workplace are significant barriers the youth of South Africa face in trying to find employment.
