Midmar 2018

Ashley Scott is raising funds for CANSA

After discovering a passion for swimming I decided to take on some cold water training to make things a bit more exciting and now I find myself wanting to do the Robben Island crossing in Cape Town next year. Whilst training in some cold water with a friend, he suggested taking on the Midmar 8-mile challenge in 2018 explaining that whilst getting the required training in, I would also have the opportunity to fundraise for a worthy charity! This was just what I needed to hear, and having always felt the need to do something where I can give back this sounded perfect!

Having lost family to cancer in recent years this charity is very close to my heart. I know so many people whose lives have been changed forever by cancer and from losing loved ones to this crushing disease.

So here I am today - swimming many more kilometres per week than I ever imagined and I feel like the sky is the limit! Who knows, perhaps one day I will swim across the English Channel!!
