My name is KEREN WESSELS. I am 16 years old and currently train at the Princess Charlene of Monaco’s Training Centre in Ballito.
I have been given the incredible opportunity to raise funds for the Princess Charlene of Monaco foundation by swimming in the Midmar 8 Mile Charity Club.
Every year at the Midmar Mile, a few swimmers swim all 8 events, 4 on Saturday and the other 4 on Sunday, to raise funds for their chosen charities. This is no easy task.
This is not my first time being part of the PCMF team. I officially became part of the 8-mile club last year, 2016. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it was the biggest honour and achievement of my life – not only was I able to overcome a huge milestone for myself but I was also able to raise money that I know was used by the foundation to change and save many lives.
The Princess Charlene foundation strives to teach underprivileged communities the skill of swimming and general water safety. I am lucky enough to be a witness to the foundation's huge impact on my community and I can’t imagine how many more other communities they have impacted all over South Africa too.
Please help me to raise R10 000 for this incredible foundation. Every rand goes to saving a person from drowning, and I am truly grateful for everyone’s support.
