Each year the Midmar Mile is held in February at the Midmar Dam north of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. It is the world's largest open water swimming event. It draws thousands of competitors, from serious international athletes and Olympic medalists to purely recreational swimmers. The 8 Mile entails swimming all 8 events, 4 miles a day over 2 days, every 75 minutes.

I have been swimming Midmar since 2009 when I was 10 years old, I completed my 11th consecutive year and 3rd 8 Mile in 2019, 36 miles since 2009.

In 2020, a couple of days after my 21st birthday, I will complete my 4th 8 Mile aiming to again raise money for charity. In lieu of birthday gifts please support me in raising money for this worthy cause.
