We're at it again! In February 2019 we will be doing our favorite annual big 8 Mile swim at Midmar to raise money for a phenomenal organisation called The Friends of Swimmers Trust.
This will be John's second 8 Mile, with 22 Miles (in total) crossed by the end of the weekend and Lauren's 78th Mile swim across the dam (1 x 16 Mile; 6 x 8 Miles; 14 x 1 Mile swims). We LOVE the event!
To qualify we each need to raise R12 000, so a total of R24 000, by the time of the race. Please get behind us, click on the link and help us reach our goal! Please share this with everyone you know!
Some more about The Friends of Swimmers Trust:
1: The Trust promotes and provides water safety workshops to communities within KZN.
Several learn to swim programs are in place namely LIv-Village School program (Verulam), Maidstone Primary School (Tongaat) and Imbalito Hope College for children with autism (Tongaat).
Our mission is to make a positive impact on reducing death by drowning in KZN.
2: SA Swimming cannot financially support our swimmers and the Trust helps fund South African Elite swimmers with their travel costs to international competitions.
3: The Trust identifies talented swimmers within its programs by offering long term guidance and support which can allow them a career in professional sport.
